Warm temperatures lead to an oily runoff into local lake'

At 13:40 hours, Yorktown Fire responded to Granite Springs Rd. to a reported large oil spill into Sparkle Lake. Yorktown firefighters quickly mitigated the spill by locating the source and containing the oil entering into the lake via storm drains. Mutual aid was request for Montrose VA Hazmat unit and NYC Hazmat unit for additional recourses. Spiller has contacted a clean-up company. Yorktown Fire went back into service at 20:30 hours.

Units: Car 2532, Eng. 273 Res. 16 MA-8/hazmat trailer, LT-51, NYS DEC, W.C.Health Dept. Yorktown Police.
 
Mutual Aid: Montrose VA Hazmat unit, NYC DEP Hazmat unit.
