| At 13:10 hrs on March 28, Yorktown Heights Volunteers were alerted to respond to Blossom Court off Giordano Drive for a Chimney Fire. First arriving Engine 273 reported an active fire in the chimney. The Engine Crew pulled a 1 3/4 line attaching the snuffer nozzle used specifically for chimney fires and accessed the roof via a 24 foot extension ladder. One minute later after the arrival of Ladder 51 crews began extinguishing the fire alternating between the snuffer nozzle and chimney chains to dislodge any burning debris. While other crews monitored the progress in the two separate attic spaces and walls using thermal imaging cameras to be sure there was no extension to the house. Once the fire was extinguished and chimney cleaned out crews packed up and were returned to service at 14:30hrs. |
