On October 10th the Yorktown Heights Engine Company held its annual Open House in conjunction with the first Yorktown Festival & Street Fair. The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce promised it to be a fun-filled action packed day with many of activities and displays. They fulfilled their promise, with over 175 vendors starting with the fire house on the south end of Commerce Street. Patrons and vendors fill Commerce St. and Veterans road. At the peak there were estimated 8,000 people in attendance.
The many visitors that put aside the times to learn about fire prevention were educated on home safety and given tours of fire engine. Fire House visitors also were treated to a demo of the Jaws of Life. Our residents had the opportunity to learn about one of Yorktown FD Special Operations Units. The Dive/Water Rescue team with Rescue 55 was on hand to show some of the specialized equipment.
Members of Yorktown Ended the day with a stand-by at the Yorktown High School annual Home Coming Bonfire.
Thanks goes out to all those who took time to make our annual Open House one of the best we have had!
