| On Memorial Day as the members of the Engine Company were BBQ out behind the firehouse, the tones dropped at 1:57pm for a working structure fire. As Engine 273 and Ladder 51 were pulling out the door with full crews, Yorktown Police updated 60-Control for a confirmed working fire. Car 2532 placed the 10-75 assignment and this put the box out for Mohegan FAST, Somers's Engine to the scene and Millwood to stand-by in our quarters with an engine. Upon arrival, Engine 273 picked up the hydrant and laid in as Ladder 51 sent the stick to the roof. The engine company made entry with a 1 3/4 line, with the ladder crews right behind them preforming their primary search, preforming vertical and horizontal ventilation and placing ground ladders around the exterior. Fire was found to be in the BC / C side on the first floor starting to extend throughout the remaining of the 1st, and engine crews made a quick knockdown of the fire. A 2nd line was stretched and brought to the number 2 floor as a precaution. Units cleared the scene approximately 3 hours later with out further incident. |
