On Sunday Dec 19th the members of Yorktown Fire were on hand to assist Santa with his annual Candy Cane Run, he was able to ride around the town on a fire engine meeting all the young girls and boys; and finding out what they wanted for Christmas. This year Yorktown Fire made sure Santa had received his Firefighter training before riding on the engine. It seems every time he helps with the Candy Cane Run he gets put to work as a fire fighter. This year was no different.
At approximately 15:00 hours Yorktown Fire was dispatched to a reported house filling with smoke. Apparatus was responding before the dispatch was completed. Engine 273 with Car 2533 first arrived at 15:03 reporting a kitchen fire possibly extinguished and to have all units continue in. Remaining hot spots had been extinguished and overhaul was completed. Car 2531 reported call all units in service 15:48 and to resume assisting our guest from the North Pole.
