MVA Rollover on TSP leads to testing new equipment

On Friday 12/16/11 at 1102Hrs Yorktown Fire, EMS, 34medic were dispatched to TSP NB at Rt 202 from a MVA rollover with possible entrapment. YHFD Units respond and requested Lake Mohegan FD be dispatched due to the call being in their district. Rescue 16 and Engine 272 got on scene with one person still in the vehicle the victim was removed and transferred to EMS units for transport to Westchester Medical Center. While on scene YHFD units were able to use a newly purchased plasma cutter to assist New York State DOT with removing the mangled guard rail. This use provided valuable training, testing, and aided in a quicker reopening of all NB lanes of the TSP.
