Yorktown Height Fire District Recognizes and Honors those who went Above and Beyond.

On September 30, 2016 Yorktown held their Annual Inspection dinner.
With representatives from Westchester and Putnam Fire Departments in attendance Yorktown Fire District recognized Past Chief Jason Swart for his hard work he provided to the Fire District. Chief Swart worked countless hours on the reduction of the Fire District ISO rating saving the residents of the YHFD thousands of dollars in insurance fees.
Continuing with presentations, the Fire District along NYS Senator Terrence Murphy, County Legislator Michael Kaplowitz and Town of Yorktown Supervisor Michael Grace recognized the exceptional work of Chief Jeff Slotoroff has and continues to do for the Yorktown Heights Fire District taxpayers. Chief Slotoroff along with his many others responsibly has applied and has received over $350,000.00 in grant money. These monies are being used for equipment and to provide the purchase and installation of an emergency back-up generator. Proclamations were presented to Chief Slotoroff by Senator Murphy and Legislator Kaplowitz. Mr. Kaplowitz also declared Oct. 7, 2016 Chief Jeff Slotoroff Day County wide.
Chief Slotoroff presented the Annual Engineer Award and the notorious Crunch Award. This year Chief Slotoroff had the privilege present the highest honor of the Medal of Valor to Captain Paul Libertore for performing a high angle rescue.
Chief Slotoroff and the Yorktown Heights Board of Fire Commissioners applaud all of the members of the Yorktown Heights Engine Company and the award recipients who continue to work hard to make Yorktown a safer community.
