70 Years of Service

On April 7 members and guests gathered to honor Roger Thompson for his many years of service to the Yorktown Heights Engine Company.

Roger Thompson was born November 13, 1929, in Manchester, VT. His family moved to Yorktown in 1935. At the age of 18 (1947) Roger joined the Yorktown Heights Engine Company just prior enlisting into the Air Force National Guard.

Over the years Roger (Mr. T) Thompson has served on many committees, from the building and grounds committee, to the harvest moon dance, and the carnival committees. He has also served as president of the Yorktown Heights Engine Company Benevolent. Roger is always ready to offer a helping hand whether it be helping the Ladies Auxiliary during carnival time or fixing the phone lines in the fire house he is there when you need him.

Mr. Roger Thompson is the longest standing member of the Yorktown Heights Engine Company (70 years). For his dedication to Company and Community Roger was presented with Proclamations and Resolutions from State Senator Dr. Murphy, County Legislator Michael Kaplowitz, Town Supervisor Michael Grace and Assemblymen Kevin Byrne. Supervisor Grace also presented Mr. Thompson with a Key to the Town.

The members of Yorktown Fire congratulate Mr. Thompson and look forward to his many more years of service.
