First Due MVA With Entrapment

At 10:39hrs Yorktown Heights Fire along with Millwood Fire were dispatched to the Taconic State Parkway Northbound in the area of the Route 134 bridge for a reported MVA-rollover with 2 occupants trapped.

Car 2532 arrived to find a single vehicle that had rolled over down an embankment into a wooded area off of the parkway on the Yorktown/Millwood district line. Car 2253, Engine 248 and Rescue 36 from Millwood FD took up a blocking position to protect the members operating on scene.

Rescue-Engine 270 and Rescue 16 positioned to utilize their hydraulic rescue equipment and provide anchor points for a haul system. Car 2532 established command while members from both Yorktown Heights FD and Millwood FD worked together to remove the passenger sidewall of the vehicle to free the trapped occupant. Topside YHFD members set up a haul system with the stokes basket to safely move the trapped occupant up the embankment. The first arriving ambulance an ALS unit from the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps began treating the driver whom was able to self extricate. As the passenger was being moved topside the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps BLS ambulance had arrived on scene. Both patients were transported to area trauma centers and the scene was turned over to the New York State Police.
