On Monday, December 26th at 09:29hrs Yorktown Heights Fire was requested to respond with an Engine and Tanker to assist the Somers Volunteer Fire Department at the scene of a house fire on Barlow Ct.

Car 2531, Engine 274 and Tanker 14 with nearly a dozen Yorktown Heights Volunteer Firefighters responded on the run.

Engine 274 arrived as the 3rd due engine company and was instructed to wrap the nearest hydrant and lay into the scene, dumping its entire bed of 5inch supply line and utilized a manifold to allow other incoming companies to complete the lay due to the nearest hydrant being a significant distance from the scene. Tanker 14 was the first arriving Tanker and began nursing operations to allow the first arriving Somers VFD Engines to continue fire suppression duties.

YHFD Volunteers assisted on scene with fire suppression, primary searches, water supply and overhaul operations. And worked in conjunction with numerous other agencies from throughout Northern Westchester and Putnam County before being released from the scene.

The official press release from the Somers VFD has been attached.
