On Saturday, April 26th at 1901hrs. Yorktown Heights Fire was dispatched to the Taconic State Parkway NB in the area of the Illington Rd bridge for a reported MVA w/ injuries.
Car 2531, Engine 270, Engine 272, and Engine 273 responded on the assignment and arrived to find a vehicle off the roadway that struck a tree with one occupant trapped.
Yorktown Heights Volunteer Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and utilized multiple eDRAULIC and hydraulic extrication tools to free the trapped occupant. The patient was transported to an area trauma center by EMS. While multiple YHFD units were already operating on the TSP, at 1915hrs. Engine 274 with additional YHFD Volunteers handled an AFA at the Triangle Shopping Center.
YHFD units remained on scene on the TSP assisting the New York State Police and tow operator prior to returning to service.
