On Sunday, May 4th. Which also happened to be International Firefighters Day. “Probie Class 25-01” began for the 4 newest Yorktown Heights Volunteer Firefighters in the Spring/Summer session of our YHFD Probationary Volunteer Firefighter Orientation Program. During “admin day”(hence the business attire), our 4 newest members were issued their rookie books, received a presentation on YHFD operations & terminology, Probationary FF expectations, “Probie do’s & don’ts”, completed numerous administrative requirements/ tasks, SCBA fit testing, were issued their turnout gear, and completed some basic donning and doffing drills to round out day 1. This intensive 2 month program acts as a formal introduction to the fire service for our 2 newest members without any previous training to prepare them to meet and exceed the academic and physical requirements of the NYS Firefighter 1 curriculum, and as a orientation and familiarization process for the other 2 new members that have joined us with previous training/certifications, as they will work to complete their Probie task books and become an interior FF within our agency. Good luck to “Probie Class 25-01” Welcome to “The Heights” |
