***First Due MVA w/Entrapment***

At 17:58hrs on Tuesday, December 16th. Yorktown Heights Fire was dispatched to the 2100 BLK of Saw Mill River Rd for a reported MVA w/ possible entrapment.
Cars 2532, 2533, Engines 270, 272, 273, 274 & Rescue 16 responded on the assignment and arrived to find a two vehicle MVA involving a cement mixer on its side with the driver trapped.
Yorktown Heights Volunteer Firefighters stretched one precautionary hose line and stabilized the cement mixer which had a full load of concrete in the drum by preforming a “dirty side tie back” utilizing the winch from R-16, a heavy duty grip-hoist, and multiple paratech rescue struts. Once the vehicle and load was safely stabilized the occupant was quickly extricated and transferred to awaiting EMS personnel.
YHFD volunteers remained on scene to assist heavy duty wreckers from Citywide Automotive Towing & Yorktown Auto Body. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Yorktown Police Department.
