YHFD vs YPD Charity Softball Game 07/23/2006

Softball game to benefit Apar Foundation

The King and His Court, a four-man fas pitch softball team, will play the Yorktown Parks & Recreation Men's Softball League Team on Sunday, July 23, at 7:00pm at the Yorktown High School Athletic Field (aka Murphy Field).

The event schedule starts at 5:00pm, with a cross-town rivalry exhibition game matching Girls Softball Alumni Teams from Lakeland and Yorktown High Schools, plus "Battle of the Badges," with Yorktown's Finest (Police) versus Bravest (Firefighters).

The King an His Court was formed in 1946 by Eddie Feigner, who pitched for his four-man team for more than 50 years. Feigner became famous for throwing 100 miles per hour, blindfolded, from second base. Now semi-retirement at age 81, and gretting his millions of fans on a farewell tour, the King serves as emcee for His Court's games, and poses for photographs and signs autographs after the game.

For this one-time-only fundraising event hosted by Harrison Apar Field of Dreams Foundation YAC PBA Fund, only 2500 wristbands (required for admission) are on sale. All tickets are $5 (children through four are admitted free) and can be purchased at Yorktown Parks & Recreation offices, Club Fit Jefferson Valley, or online at www.yacsports.com. Proceeds of the event will benefit public recreation and education facilities.
