As usual when it rains the wonderful people of Yorktown become impatient and have to venture out and do something. Usually, they don't take the time to account to the changing road conditions. On October 25, as if it was some kind of surprise at 06:52hrs Yorktown Units were alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries on Route 35 between Willoway St. and Greenwood St. Car 2531, Rescue 16 and Rescue-Engine 270 responded shortly after dispatch and arrived to find two cars that learned what happens when they drive too fast for the conditions and collide with one another at a high rate of speed. YHFD units surveyed the scene along with EMS deciding to extricate the patient in the former four door Honda civic, EMS decided he was the priority patient and needed to be transported out the driver's side front door. While YHFD members had begun putting the tools to work, EMS changed their minds taking him out the passenger side. YHFD members secured the vehicles, assisted with patient care, traffic control and gave EMS a hand as to not back their Ambulance into our Engine. When all was said and done YHFD cleared the scene at 07:39hrs.
