Wet Roads make it a Slippery Ride with Long Delays

At 08:04 Yorktown Fire was dispatched to a reported roll-over unknown if entrapment on the notorious stretch of Rt. 35 (Sawmill River Rd). First arriving units found the driver out of the vehicle being attended to, and then transported by YVAC. Crews from R-16 switched mode from rescue to hazmat. Using booms and absorbent crews were able to mediate the large amounts of fluids leaking from the over turned vehicle. This area of Rt. 35 is in the NYC watershed, requiring a response from the DEP Haz-Mat Unit. Owners of the vehicle (Verizon) contracted a spill clean up company. The area of Rt. 35 remained closed by Yorktown Police until the clean up was completed.
