On Saturday March 27, 2010, the Yorktown Heights Engine Company mourned the loss of Past President, Life Member Leon Bloom. Leon joined the company in 1974, and in later years Leon served on the Company Board of Directors until serving as President of the Company in 1981 and 1982.
Leon's services to the company extended past his position as president, as he helped many Chiefs throughout the years with his mechanical abilities.
Life outside of the fire house consisted many things, like his passion for race cars and the NASCAR season. Leon also found time to belong to the Yorktown Rod and Gun Club.
Leon will always be remembered for his service and commitment to the Company and unyielding affection for his wife Judi and their dogs.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Yorktown Heights Engine Company can be made in Leon's memory.
