At approximately 14:00 hours Yorktown Fire Water Rescue unit was dispatched to 130 Granite Springs Road (Sparkle Lake) for a reported drowning. 911 calls reported a man fell into the lake. Yorktown divers along with Mahopac Falls divers worked until nightfall in the dark murky waters where visibility was 0. Additional divers from the NYS Police Dive Unit arrived early Tuesday morning and with sophisticated equipment for environments like those found in Sparkle Lake. The victim was located and recovered at approximately 08:15 hours. Yorktown Fire extends appreciation and gratitude’s to all the Mutual Aid that assisted.
