At 18:42hrs on April 26th, Yorktown Heights Fire was requested to respond with our Firefighter Assist & Search Team (F.A.S.Team) to assist the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department (Putnam County) at the scene of an apartment fire on East Lake Blvd.
Car 2531, Car 2533, and Rescue 16 with 10 Yorktown Heights Volunteer Firefighters responded to the scene as additional YHFD members remained in district. While YHFD units were responding, the Mahopac IC sounded the 2nd alarm of fire which brought in additional resources from both Putnam County and Westchester County into the scene.
Upon arrival, at the request of the Mahopac IC. YHFD FAST was split into two crews with a small group of YHFD volunteers assisting with searches of the building and a 2nd crew remaining as FAST.
YHFD units operated on scene for a little over an hour before returning to service.
