At 00:57hrs on April 10, Yorktown Heights firefighters were woken from their sleep and requested to respond with the FASTeam to "The Sandbar" on East Main Street in the Jefferson Valley section of the Lake Mohegan Fire District for a working structure fire. While Car 2532, and Engine 270 were responding at 00:59hrs with a full crew of volunteers, first arriving Mohegan units reported a 1 story wood frame commercial building with smoke showing and heavy fire in the rear. Soon after Yorktown units arrived at 01:02hrs they were put to work by Mohegan Command. Engine 270's crew split with half taking a 2 1/2 houseline off Ladder 10 through the front door and the other half working to open the walls and ceilings finding hidden pockets of fire throughout the structure while an additional two remembers of Engine 270 were instructed by Mohegan Command to vent the roof. Yorktown crews remained on scene to complete overhaul and assist the cause and origin team, crews cleared the scene at 04:01hrs. Yorktown Heights FD would like to thank the Millwood Volunteer Fire Co. for standing by in our Headquarters during the incident with Car 2253 and Engine 247.
